We remember the days of our past with fonder thoughts than they actually were. In my youth I remember playing in fields of skunk cabbage, running through steams, catching fish and star gazing. Those are what I choose to remember well than what we did. We would drive our cattle up to the Jemez Mountains. We would then set up a camp/ we stayed at this camp from the end of May till September. We would gather fire wood, cook over the camp fire, haul water to drink and bathe from a spring. We would ride horses and check the condition of the cattle and brand calves. Now for my dad this was fine as he believed that man was not made to walk, but to ride horse back. He always liked to ride, he is on the horse at left with his sister Veva. I on the other hand have not to this day had an experience that has lead me to believe that a horseback ride is fun. To me a horse is like any other tool that is necessary. For instance if you need to set a fence post you get a post hole digger. You need to catch a cow get a horse. My dad insisted that I learn all there was to know about being like the cowboys of his youth and his peers. I can cook in a Dutch oven, build a fire, and gather cattle, brand calves, ride horses, live off the land, bathe in a frigid stream, sleep on the ground, drink water from a stock tank and crap in the woods. I use only a few of those skills to date. I can cook in a Dutch oven over a fire I have built. I fondly remember the streams and the stars but really don’t want to recall the smell of burning hair, Calf scours and dehorning paste.
Then they remembered his words
Luke 24:1-8
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " Then they remembered his words.
